Art Therapy
Art therapy a combines art-making and psychotherapy to promote mental health and well-being in a way that supports mind-body integration. Creativity and art/expressive arts processes facilitate healing and develop insight into life situations and traumatic experiences. Art therapy is for all ages, and no artistic talent is necessary - it is about the process of creating and not the final product. Art therapy sessions are offered both in-person and online, typically for 50-minutes. Art therapy has many benefits, and is effective in supporting you with a variety of issues or concerns.
Counselling/Psychotherapy
Counselling/Psychotherapy promotes positive growth, well-being, and mental health, with sessions designed to help you better understand yourself and communicate with your world. The work we do is person-centered, based on each person’s strengths, and the approaches we use are designed to meet your needs. So, despite our Valley Art Therapy name, this means that not every client we see does ‘Art Therapy’, as there may be other approaches that are more comfortable or a better fit for the client. Individual counselling can help to support you through difficult times and with difficult emotions, and is available for children, teens, adults, and seniors. Sessions are typically 50-minutes, with sessions offered in-person and online.
EMDR Therapy
EMDR is well known for the treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and has also been used to effectively treat a wide range of mental health issues, like anxiety and panic attacks, depression, phobias, sleep problems, complicated grief, and addictions. Through the EMDR process, there is often a significant reduction in a person's level of disturbance, and the difficult memory tends to shift in intensity, simply becoming a neutral memory of a past event. With EMDR, the client is always in control, alert, wide awake, and can stop the process at any time. EMDR can be used with all ages, although the process looks slightly different for children. Sessions are typically 90 minutes, although longer or intensive sessions may be appropriate for some clients. The number of sessions required is unique to each client.
Safe and Sound Protocol
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an auditory intervention designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience. The SSP consists of 5 hours of music, played through headphones in a safe and quiet environment. The SSP has shown significant benefits for people with: social and emotional difficulties, auditory sensitivities, anxiety and trauma related challenges, inattention, anger, relationship difficulties, sleep problems, learning difficulties. Through the SSP, your system is primed for a more calm state, and further therapy is enhanced and behavioural regulation is improved.

Coaching
Reiki Art Therapy
Reiki Art Therapy sessions use a combination of holistic healing, art making, and psychotherapy to support meaningful changes within the mind and body, promoting overall well-being and healing. You can engage in the process of identifying stress in the body and use creative expression and art making to promote a profound shift in emotional well-being. A Holy Fire Reiki meditation is incorporated to enhance the potential for healing. Reiki Art Therapy sessions could be experienced as a series of sessions, as part of your regular self-care routine like you might with massage, or as a one time session.
